Photos showing progress on the construction of the Liverpool Canal Link, October 31st 2008. [Page 1, Page 2, Page 3, Page 4]
The section of the Liverpool Canal Link that passes through Pier Head is now in water. The fencing has now been removed from the section in front of the Port of Liverpool Building and this area is now open to the public.
Work is still continuing further south at Mann Island and further north at Princes Dock and Trafalgar Dock. This work is expected to be completed by the end of 2008. A period of testing will follow and these other sections filled with water.
The Liverpool Canal Link is on schedule to open to navigation around Easter 2009.
These photos cover the route of the new canal link in sections, from south to north, from the Pier Head to Trafalgar Dock.
(It is hoped that new photos of Mann Island Lock and basin will be shown here before long.)
(Please note: the images on these pages are quite large so the page may be slow to load for those not using broadband.)
