East of Mann Island the canal link will continue through a tunnel towards Canning Dock. There will be a lock with a shallow fall to take boats down into Canning Dock.
This tunnel was constructed in the first half of 2007 to enable access to the Museum of Liverpool construction when Mann Island was excavated. In the foreground on the right are the remains of part of the dockside of Manchester Dock.
