The two brick-arched railway bridges that cross the Irwell, the first carrying the link to Deansgate Station and the second carrying the original railway line to Liverpool Road Station. Prince's Bridge can be seen beyond.
On the left, after Princes Bridge, the blocked-up former entrance to the Manchester Bolton and Bury Canal can be seen. The canal climbed immediately through a two-rise lock staircase.
The former entrance lock to the Manchester and Salford Junction Canal is on the right, behind which is the Victoria and Albert Hotel, situated in a former warehouse. New Quay Street bridge is seen in the distance.
New apartments are springing up along both sides of the Irwell Navigation.
