January 31st 2002: Looking south-west from Oldham Road bridge before construction began. The line of the canal curves away to the right. The site of the Co-op store has been cleared.

April 15th 2002: This picture shows how the channel has being constructed. Pre-cast wall sections were laid onto concrete foundations and back-filled.

September 5th 2002: Looking north towards Oldham Road bridge. A wide basin is being constructed here where there will be moorings and room to turn. The existing canal channel is beyond the bridge.

There is to be extensive re-development of Failsworth Town Centre between Ashton Road West and Oldham Road, with the canal becoming a feature. The development will include a health centre, supermarket and another store.
