Looking east from Britannia Road Bridge, A long narrow channel runs alongside Carr lane. When the canal was originally opened the roadway here was much narrower.
The channel widens as it approaches Lock 22e.
There is a landing area alongside Carr Lane. The restored Lock 22e (Pickle Lock) is seen just beyond. A range of take-aways, shops and small supermarkets nearby make this a good stopping place for boaters. There are good moorings, along with water and other facilities, below the lock.
