Caroline Street Bridge
Looking north east at Caroline Street bridge. Two rows of piles were sunk. The space between had been excavated and pre-cast box culvert bridge sections put into position. The spaces on each side of the bridge sections have been in-filled and the piles removed. The tops of the concrete bridge sections have been covered with hard core. The inside edges of the parapets have been clad with stone. The outside of the bridge has being clad. The road across the bridge was re-opened to traffic at the beginning of February 2001.

Looking east towards Caroline Street. A stank or dam had been made across the corner of the basin while the new bridge was being constructed. The stank was removed in February 2001, connecting the new channel through Stalybridge with the rest of the canal network. The tail gates of Lock 4W are visible through the concrete bridge sections.
