Lock 8e, Spring Mill Lock (or Factory Lane Lock), alongside Factory Lane, Milnsbridge. This lock has also been known as Roller Lock, as a roller had been attached to the bridge wall to smooth the passing of tow ropes. Spring Mill stood close to this lock in the early 19th century, before the existing mills were built, and gave its name to the area on the hillside above the lock.
